The Lawson Charitable Foundation (LCF) was established in 2021 by philanthropists Cathy and Tom Lawson, following many years of personal commitment to supporting organizations across New England and beyond. Inspired by their deep love for community and their desire to expand their philanthropic efforts, the Lawsons founded LCF as a way to formalize their giving and create a lasting impact on the causes they care about most.
Cathy and Tom have long believed in the power of giving back, and their foundation is a reflection of their core values: compassion, generosity, and a dedication to improving the lives of others. The creation of LCF represents a labor of love and commitment to creating a legacy that will continue to uplift communities and inspire positive change for generations to come.
Since its founding, LCF has become a trusted partner to many organizations, providing support and resources to initiatives that focus on caregiver respite, childhood mental health, pediatric special needs, veterans and community support which focuses on helping those who are working hard to help themselves and others. With a strong foundation rooted in the Lawsons’ vision and values, LCF continues to expand its reach, always guided by the belief that every act of kindness can make a lasting difference.

Tom Lawson was the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers, protecting nearly $10 trillion in business property across more than 130 countries. He served as Chairman and CEO from 2018 until his retirement, after previously being appointed President and CEO in 2014.
Throughout his distinguished career, Tom led with vision, humility, and a deep respect for people. In addition to his leadership at FM Global, he served as Chairman of the FM Global Foundation and as a member of the Rhode Island Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees beginning in 2021.
More than his professional accomplishments, Tom’s greatest legacy is the generosity, kindness, and dignity with which he treated others. Together with Cathy, he built the Lawson Charitable Foundation as an expression of their shared dream to give back and help those working hard to help themselves and others.
Tom’s spirit continues to guide the Foundation’s mission, values, and commitment to creating meaningful change.

Nicole Anderson serves as the Executive Director of the Lawson Charitable Foundation, working closely with the Foundation’s Trustee to lead its mission. She oversees all daily operations, bringing nearly 20 years of nonprofit experience to her role. Nicole has long admired the Lawson family’s philanthropic initiatives and is honored to help further the Foundation’s mission and the Lawson family legacy. She holds a master’s degree in public administration and finds great fulfillment in making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
