The Lawson Charitable Foundation was created in 2021 by Cathy and Tom Lawson. The mission of the Foundation is to help those that are working hard to help themselves and others.
The Izzy Foundation
At the Lawson Charitable Foundation, we believe that small acts of kindness can have a profound impact — especially for families facing the unimaginable. One way we live out this mission is by supporting organizations like The Izzy Foundation, a nonprofit, dedicated to designing, funding, and “IZspiring” creative programs that allow families with children facing cancer or other life-altering medical conditions to LIVE, LAUGH, LOVE, and PLAY.
Through our grant to The Izzy Foundation, we are proud to support the Izzy Family Meal Program, which provides 50 meals a day to families in the Izzy Room at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Each year, this program serves over 7,000 patients and family members, ensuring they have access to a warm meal, snacks, coffee, and other essentials. For families navigating hospital stays, these meals offer more than nourishment — they bring comfort, community, and relief from financial strain.
The impact is clear. Many parents stay at their child’s bedside for hours or days, often skipping meals to avoid being too far away. The Izzy Family Meal Program eliminates that worry, providing easy access to nutritious meals for all inpatient families — regardless of diagnosis — including those in the ICU, surgical waiting rooms, and pediatric clinics. By easing this basic but essential need, the program allows families to focus on what matters most: supporting their child through treatment.
“We understand the profound challenges a pediatric diagnosis places on a family. That’s why the Lawson Charitable Foundation is honored to support The Izzy Foundation’s Family Meal Program. By helping families save time and money during their child’s hospitalization, we strive to ease their burden and provide comfort and support when they need it most.”
